Tree Trimmer/Climber
Job Summary
Trims dead or excess branches from trees or shrubs to maintain right-of-way for roads, sidewalks, or utilities, or to improve appearance or health of tree.
General Accountabilities
- Operates trucks, loaders, chippers, tractors, power saws, and other equipment and tools.
- Climbs to gain access to work areas.
- Maintains tools and equipment.
- Cuts away dead and excess branches from trees, using appropriate equipment.
- Reshapes trees to achieve attractive shapes or to remove low-hanging branches.
- Prunes, fertilizes, and sprays trees, as directed.
- Operates shredding and chipping equipment and feeds limbs and brush into the machines.
- Loads debris onto trucks and hauls it away for disposal.

Job Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license
- CDL Preferred

Groundsman
Job Summary
- Conduct maintenance of trees on a given property
- Inspect trees for signs of damage, disease, or pests.
- Cut down and trim trees and branches using chain saws and other equipment.
- Ensure the property is clean and free of hazards.
- Safely use equipment and tools and perform repairs.
- Cut and remove dead or diseased tree limbs and branches.
- Work with the crew to complete tree care and other maintenance duties
- Follow the company’s safety standards and regulations.
General Accountabilities
- Assist Arborists with tree removals, pruning, and debris disposal.
- Operate chainsaws, brush chippers, use of various hand and power tools.
- Cut down trees using appropriate notches, wedges, and hinges.
- Drive and operate the various vehicles.
- Keep work areas clean and organized. Pickup scrap and other discarded materials.
- Inspecting equipment and tools and performing repairs and maintenance when required. Stock trucks with equipment commonly used.
- Using the appropriate gear and observing safety protocols.
- Reporting any issues or safety hazards to the crew leader or Safety Supervisor.
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous work experience as a tree groundman or similar.
- Good physical strength, fitness, vision, and hearing.
- The ability to climb, stand, walk, kneel, and stoop.
- The ability to transport heavy items.
- Excellent balance and depth perception.
- Superb communication skills.
- The ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- The willingness to work during unfavorable weather conditions.
